Fall time fun

Being the crazy mom that I am... I walked around the block until I found a yard with some trees so that I could take pictures of Hayden playing in the leaves. I asked a poor, unsuspecting neighbor for the use of her yard and she prolly, no, definitely, thought I was nuts. But Hayden did get to play in the leaves and we had fun.

In the town square... squashing leaves.

Hayden's First Birthday

Sidewalk chalk dog prints lead our guests to our home

the doggy bags

Hayden eating his first Birthday cake. We found a healthy alternative cake on line and made cup cakes into paws for each of the kids.

Hayden's First Birthday

Hayden and his friends: Corbin, Avyn, Sage, Rain, Noel, and Maddux enjoyed a feast for toddlers: grahm crackers (in the shape of doggy bones), vanilla wafers, fruit salad, and cheese cubes.
Our home made dog house out of cardbord, tape, and a little paint.

Each child had a puppy dog name place holder that they got to take home! Great dollar store find!

Hayden's one. I can hardly believe how slowly and how quickly the year flew by. We threw him a puppy dog themed birthday party with some of our closest friends. We were also excited to be able to have Hayden's great grandparents to help us celebrate. We invited 7 children under the age of 2. Our house was packed with people, food, and toys. It was lots of fun. Hayden's puppy dog cake. You can't see the side of the cake but it has a dog tag made out of a vanilla wafer and fruit by the foot with Hayden't initials on it!

Dance Baby Dance

Hayden's favorite thing to do is to listen to music. He has long connived and finagled to touch the DVD player but he has now learned to obey...on occasion. He has started to point at the cd player when he wants the music on. He has also started to dance. He flaps him arms up and down and if he is really into it he'll bounce up and down. It's so fun to see his personality emerge more and more.

Hayden's First Haircut

Hayden's first haircut was as uneventful as it can be with a nine month old. With the help of some cheerios and mommy's funny faces he was distracted enough not to grab the siccors or squirm out of the chair. I guess it's hard to tell by these pictures but he was starting to get a mullet.... yuck. Miss Lissestte did a great job. Hayden especially liked her curly hair and glasses. We have some of his sweet blond curl locks to put in his scrapbook.

Hayden was proud of himself. His G-ma says you can tell by his pictures that he "delights" in himself.... we definitely delight in him and we will have to teach him about how to delight in the Lord who made him in the near future.

Our newest family picture

Hylton and I have started coaching a U-4 soccer team at our YMCA. It's hysterical. We have a hard time keeping our team on the field and they would rather blow the whistle than play soccer but we are thouroughly enjoying it. As the weather begins to cool off here in Tenn. it just feels right to be back on the soccer field. This time there's three of us. Hylton and I essentially met on the soccer field what better way to spend time as a family than coach the sport we love. We are excited to get to be a part of our new team of three year olds lives. Hayden, we expect, will soon learn to love the sport too. Right now we are just trying to keep him from eating the grass.
